Looking for a healthy cat
So new guy here, and with it comes the usual questions. I had to give up the motorcycle due to my back. So I want a sports car, but I am trying to figure out which one. Comparing apples to apples, I am looking at a gen 1-2 E type FHC or an F type 6 cylinder. Both with manual gearbox. Obviously, if I wanted a 2+2 E type, I would go for an early gen 3 v-12 for the power and stability due to the weight. But let's keep it simple for now. Pros and cons of each? What I should look for in selecting each? Which one is a better driver/sports machine? Any advice is appreciated .Cheers.

Welcome to the forum hog4acat,
These are very different vehicles.
I had an E-Type forty five years ago as a daily driver and loved it. Driving expensively restored examples in recent years, I still find them beautiful to look at but uncomfortable and not particularly fast. Time and cars have moved a long way and the driving experience is exhilarating only because it is nostalgic.
The F-Type is almost everything a modern vehicle should be. It works efficiently but removes most of the requirement for driving skill or involvement. However, the same is true of its contemporaries from other manufacturers. I very nearly bought one late last year but luggage carrying capacity makes it unsuitable for fast motoring long distances across Continental Europe.
Choice depends on what you intend to do with your Jaguar.

Well a couple of points there. Coming off a motorcycle, luggage capacity was essentially non existent, and traction control and abs didn't exist either (although both are now an option, on the gold wing at one point you could have it equipped I kid you not with an air bag (SRS not suspension)!). Speed isn't a terrible concern; I am more a fan of carving up a twisty road in Tennessee or Virginia; that is why I prefer a V6 on the f type. That and I've had a 305 hp Mustang before; that was MORE than enough (I think I'd be afraid to drive an l89 Corvette.).
Comfort is a major issue. That and upkeep. Granted I know it's a Jaguar, you pay to play. I just need to know how much craziness am I in for. I don't want a vehicle that spends 22 hours in the paddocks for every 1 on the road.

Comments, complaints
Also looking for compliments, complaints overall about the driving and ownership experience of both. I know on the E type, independent mechanics or owners will be servicing the vehicle. But on the F type, what is your experience with Jaguar dealers and services? Excellent or take a number (number tag attached to grenade)?
