Love my Jag
My BRG 2001 XK8 Convertible was a gift for my birthday, every future anniversary, Christmas, etc. I found it on the 'net and went to Kansas City to look at it, not knowing if I would be driving or flying home. So, I call it 'Toto.' We're not in Kansas anymore! I live in Hixson (a suburb of Chattanooga) TN and look forward to learning more about my favorite car on this forum.

Welcome Robbie,
A great present. You'll have had time to get to know Toto on the near 700 mile trip home.
Plenty of info in the XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum section.

Funny story #1
I hope this isn't too long for this topic, but it will help you get to know me better.
One Friday afternoon green liquid started dripping out near the locking mechanism for the roof. Before I got home, just a few miles, the drip had turned into a stream into the gear shift box. Early Monday morning I called the Jag repair shop to see when I could get it in to be fixed. First thing Tuesday, they said.
Tuesday morning I got into the car to take it to the dealer. There was an immediate problem. The top was down and it was pouring rain. My husband , who was going with me to bring me home, had left before me, and I was in the driveway pondering the trip across town, about 15 miles away. Putting on my trusty raincoat (I couldn’t figure out how to use an umbrella under the circumstances) I took a deep breath and backed out of the garage.
Going down the expressway was interesting. Passing cars in order to make this trip as quickly as possible, I could imagine cell phones pointing out windows and fully expected my adventure to be posted on YouTube that evening. Arriving at the service bay, the kind man had an armload of towels to dry me and the car off. They were very nice and when I was presented the bill the next day for $1500 I didn’t even scream.
On the way home, my husband told me there was a way to manually put up the roof. Then I screamed.

Pix
Yes, there is another story - that's why this one was #1
Here are pix. The first one was in KC before bringing her home. The next I call 'drinking and texting and driving.' Fully staged, of course. It's all I can do to drive and sing with the radio at the same time. This was from a beautiful trip last weekend in the NC mountains. The trip up was pretty dicey. The only places it rained were along the Ocoee river, where there had been a rockslide the day before and up the mountain to Lake Toxaway. Sunday coming back was beautiful and a joyous drive.

How funny!
Hello to you, too, Nashville! This forum is great, such friendly people and wonderful advice. Next time you are in Chattanooga, look me up. There are only 2 cars like mine that I have seen in town, the other one lives here in Hixson also, a black one. What color is yours, or did I miss that info somewhere?

I'll bet it's a beauty, classic lines with that "sure, I can beat you" look. Will let you know next time I'm up that way. I know what you mean about being unique. I've had drivers of new Mercedes and even a Porsche convertible do some serious neck-straining looking at mine. There's a guy at the grocery that asks to buy mine every time he sees it.
