The meaning of Portfolio

New to this Forum, happily driving a 2016 XJ Portfolio - and that is my question - Everything published states that the "portfolio" trim ONLY comes with the extended wheel base XJ-L model, and NOT the XJ. Yet, my Xj, and many others, are advertised and described as "Portfolio". I have the quilted seats, all the extra options, etc, but obviously not the rear seat items that come with the XJL. So, do I have a "Portfolio" trim Jag, or not??

Welcome to the Forums.
I take CA to the US of A?
Portfolio, Heritage, etc etc were, as you have said, trim related.
Not aware of the "L" being a specific upgrade, however, the USA market did get some strange stuff over the years.
USA never got the Daimler named car, they were a rebadged Jaguar, and use Vanden Plas mostly, with all the Daimler spec innards.

Welcome to the forums Tulum XJ,
At introduction, X351 had Luxury, Premium Luxury or Portfolio trim levels and all were available in either SWB or LWB. Remember that buyers had flexibility in selecting trim features so not all Portfolio will be identical.

According to the brochure a "Premium Rear Seat Package" was optional equipment that year.

In earlier brochures there's even two levels, a "Rear Seat Package" with the blinds and stuff (kind of like the old VDP) and a "Premium Rear Seat Package" with the entertainment stuff so the kids could watch movies on a trip.

Thanks for all the info, that is finally clear. Again, after I got the car, of course I looked up all the info I could on it, and it was confusing as any reference to the "portfolio" trim level was always stated as only being available with the long wheel base, but to your point, this makes no sense, and now I understand the various trim levels. The good news is that its definitely the portfolio trim level, and man is it beautiful...
I've updated my info, and will share one last thing with the group - I have always been a Lexus fan, owned both the ES and GS models, including the 430 with the big 8 cylinder. Always loved the serene way they drove, and of course the crazy reliability. Then I had a BMW 540, which I did not care for. It was a beast, but not (in my opinion) comfortable to drive. Then, last year, I had the luck of getting a new XJ as a rental car, and I fell in love... :-) There is truly something about British luxury, and the XJ just delivers it like nothing else. I was fortunate to get a good deal on a CPO (Certified PreOwned) model, with the extended warranty, so I'm covered if anything comes up (like the fact that the passenger seat massager is not working.... :-))
In any case, thanks again for the info.
