Mick from Oxfordshire saying hi👍
Hi all, I have been thinking of buying a XJR Jag for a few years now and hopefully when our car sells, I will be looking to finally buy one. Prior to buying, can I ask what to look out for and are there any years that are more problematic than others please? Also, what are the servicing costs like, I suppose finding a good independant Jag specialist would be the best way forward.
We will be down sizing to one car and I need to convince my wife that this is a good option LOL!
Thanks in advance
Mick

Welcome to the forums Mick,

More than problematic years is problematic previous owners. History is critical when assessing a used Jaguar. A well maintained example of any XJR will be a pleasure to own but a neglected example can be a money pit.
Depending on which XJR you are considering, follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj6-xjr6-x300-26/ to the X300 (1995-97) forum, https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/ to the X308 (1997-2003) forum or https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-x350-x358-28/ to the X350 (2003-09) forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' threads at the top of each are a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.
Good luck in your search for your Jaguar and enjoy the forums.
