Default Misfire

Hi all, my name is Paul Bennett and I have just joined the forum. I used to be a member of roadfly but cannot seem to access their website anymore. I have a 2000 reg. XJR which has gone into limp mode about a week ago. Ihave changed the plugs which has made no difference and now I strongly suspect an ignition coil. The scanner has detected a random/multiple misfire and one or two other things but is not specific to any cylinder. I think my course of action now will be to buy a new 4 pin ignition coil and systematically work through all the cylinders starting the engine after each coil replacement until I find the culprit.Any and all suggestions are very welcome!

Welcome to the forum Paul,

Sorry to hear about the misfire issue. I suggest you post the actual codes in the X308 tech section for best advice.

Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the UK Region section by following this link UK - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in this country.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham
