Thumbs up Missfire 1,3,5

Just thought I'd put up a post to try and help out people in the future.
So the JAAAAAG was parked in a very windy stormy area over night,(storm Ciaran) in the morning it would hardly run and it went into the Dreaded limp mode.
So to 'I've plugged it in and gone through all the usual diagnosis. The symptoms, p0171, p0174, p0420, p0301, p0303, p0305, p0300, p0316. It literally was only running on Bank 2.
So much so that even the left hand cat wasn't even hot. next step Remove Windscreen wipers, lower cover along with a bucket load of Sycamore seeds and leaves. Removed strut brace and eventually the inlet manifold. Next i undid the coils on bank 1 only to find the tubes full to the top with rain water.
My only assumption is the excess rain fall had over loaded the clogged drain under the screen and right hand wiper spindle and run passed the rubber seal on the left wiper spindle. which is directly above the bank 1 rocker cover and the trench where the coils and plugs go. Its drying over night and new plugs and reassembly tomorrow.
Good luck guys . I hope this helps

Welcome to the forums Martin,

I'm amazed you didn't have considerably more to worry about than a car not starting. I've been watching reports of vehicles and homes destroyed across the south today.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ed-v8-x200-15/ to the S-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Yes that would do it. Water filled Coil pockets.
Washing your engine bay, and the broken wind screen washer pipe are also good options.
Leaving the poor brute outside in (storm Ciaran)
and its Black?
Can you still say that Nowadays?

Would also succeed in causing missfires.

and welcome.

Hello, Martin,
I'm sorry your S-type got drowned! But also glad that's the only damage you suffered.
And, I congratulate you finding the problem(s) and on the way to repairs.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
