Default Must intro

Hello... Newt here with the new member must introduction. I'm really not a bad wrench... providing the car I'm working on has a distributor and points. In the past decade I've restored TR3, TR7, GT6, two MGBs and even a 450 SLC Benz. I started chemo last month but I can't blame my buying a 2007 X-Type 3.0, sight unseen, on the chemicals. I was crazy to begin with! The cars problems are far too many to list. Perhaps I feel it's a kindred spirit but when the first thing you can't do is get the key out of the ignition it doesn't bode well. Can't even get in the trunk to check the battery, spare or jack! Gee' I wonder if there's a body in there? Hoffa maybe?

Looking forward to getting to know some of you. I suspect I'll be needing a lot of help!

Cheers,
Newt

Welcome Newt, did the phrase “What was I thinking?” Come to mind? Hope the problems clear up for you and the car.

Welcome.

Yep, this whole "distributorless" is a scary thing indeed, with or without the chemicals.

Good luck on ALL the fronts.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome! I've belonged to a number of car forums. With the classics it's required reading... if you expect to get you car back on the road that is. Having the knowledge base of folks who have already been down the road you've decided to travel can make all the difference.

That's Westmoreland County Pa...I'm a native Pittsburgher...east ender to be specific. Grew up in the shadow of and breathing the smoke of the J Edgar Thompson steel works. Pittsburgh is a great city... now that you can see it!

I'll add the car to my profile. My daily driver is a 1998 Dodge Durango. Another "sight unseen" car I've been driving for 4 years but I have to admit I enjoy telling people that it's nice to finally own a car that was built in this century! I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GT tucked away in storage for the winter but that's my toy and only counts when the sun is out and it's 70 degrees or better.

I always wanted a Jaguar. A friend of mine restored a 66 E-Type and I would have loved to own one but if the X-Type is out of my pay grade... well. A friend in high school had an XK120 FHC that I drove on occasion. We would swap cars... mine was a 57 MGA 1500... he would get his car back when he finally tracked me down. After that catching me was no problem but I always resented him asking me where you put the flashlight batteries in my MG!

Well, I'm off to try disconnecting my battery to see if I can get the key out of the ignition.

Cheers,
Newt

Newt,

You can visit the US Northeast Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-northeast-35/to find other members in your region.

Good luck with that sticking key.
