Default My first Jag - 02' X-type, Sport - 80,000mls

Hey, good to be here. I've been reading up on threads related to my car and I have found a wealth of info. This forum can save us all a lot of money and headaches. The knowledge base is solid, and friendly, and I hope to add to it. Thanks a lot!

I come from Cadillac land. I had a 98 Eldorado aluminum block Northstar. A powerful and luxurious car, but when the headgasket goes, all your fun is over. And I mean over. The headbolts pull out of the aluminum block after about 125K and you can't really rebuild the same motor b/c the headbolts will just pull out of the weak aluminum again in about 20k miles. Incredible car, but once that head.block seal goes, it's an overheating Nightmare. I considered a new motor and trans at around $6K to$7k - installed... but finally decided to cut my losses and here I am, ...got me a cool Jag.

The X-type is smaller, which I like, looks absolutely smooth, and handles like it's on rails. The Eldorado was no joke around corners, the powerful front wheels pull you like a rocket, but the AWD Jag V6 hits corners like a rollercoaster. I love the way the seats hold you in place and the interior is beautiful to boot.

Definitely love this car, but my seats won't move in elevation. I am 6ft tall and the seats are stuck high. I'll start a thread about this as I have already pulled the front seat and had a look!

Cheers to my new brothers!

Welcome, you did a smart move if you ask me . Like any FWD powered car , Eldorado should senseless in the corners or ridicilous torque steering when launching .
I think you will be liking your X Type and AWD is awesome

Bravo! Thanks for hosting such a good site. Sorry, but my pics come out really huge. Idk? Below is the first time I washer her up at the "Spray & Wash" place...

Well, I didn't have patience for the high seat so I unhooked the motor linkage and dumped the seat. However, now the rest position is High, b/c of a complimentary spring that opposes the electric motor. Long Story Short, LSS, I pulled that spring and proceeded to dump the seat and then tie it down with HD plastic zip ties. Each zip tie is rated for 175lbs, and I slung 4 of em btwn 2 bars to hold the seat down so that it won't eject me while I'm trying to accelerate. LOL. Anyway, I know it doesn't sound good, but I need to buy new tires/alignment and install spark plugs soon. The Jag dealer will rape me to fix both front seats. I'm just saying that I'll get back to the seat thing after I get the car squared away otherwise.
