my first jaguar
My old neighbour sold me her mint condition 2000 s-type. Unfortunately she didn't have the owners manual. So i can't figure out how to pair my i phone to the car. Radio has a built in tape deck so it is an early system but there is a phone button on the radio and on the stearing wheel. If any one could stear me in the right direction i would appreciate any help you could give me

I was just reading other threads and it looks like the s type didn't have Bluetooth until the 2003 model year. So I am now thinking of replacing the radio with an after market one. I am an OEM believer but hands free phone rules. I have an after market radio in my elantra with bluetooth it's great hands free calling and i can play audio from my phone to the car wirelessly. I don't want to loose the steering wheel controls. So if any one could recommend a unit the fits those requirements that would be great.

Welcome Richard! We're practically neighbours. I have installed bluetooth in my Jag, and will be doing the same tommy wifes X5. It's a Motorola T605 wired in where the original car phone was. Not quite as good as built in, but since I got the unit for .99 cents, I can't complain..
Do a search on the forum and you'll find tons of bluetooth info.

Welcome Richard,
You should find a link to the Vehicle Literature (Driver's Handbook etc) in the S-Type section FAQ's.
Not good news on the phone (for you or keithloveless with the XK8). The Jaguar telephone sytems were standard across the model range and you will not have OE Bluetooth unless the PO has gone to the huge expense of updating the Jaguar equipment. Good advice from avt007 on finding an alternative solution.
Enjoy the S-Type.
