Hi Folks! Glad to have found the forum. I was given a FREE XK8 by a Former High School friend because it has issues, and she is not in good health to be able to fix it. She was in the Iraq war and was given a defective gas mask, which messed up her lungs. I had promised her I would get the car repaired and enjoy it. Keys were gone, so I got new keys from Jag, and supposedly had them programmed correctly. Now battle the Safe Engine Mode light thing. Pulled a P1517 code, so working on trying to figure all this out. I live in Montana and have many car's, but this is my first Jag. I love the car. I am a body shop owner, and hope to be giving this girl a new paint job after I get the mechanics handled. Thanks for the add, and I love this group of people. My name is Lyle.

Welcome Moparmusclecars.
I'm more of a GM man myself what with owning two Pontiac Firebirds and a Corvette. I do have a couple old Dodge vans and a Daytona.
Hope you enjoy the Jag as much as I do mine.
If your friend hasn't yet, tell her to contact veteran groups like DAV. They started after WWI to help veterans that were gassed. I donate to them every month and have for many years. We vets have to take care of each other.
God bless and take care of her.

Welcome to the forum Lyle,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Central Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-central-36/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham
