Hello everyone. I started out this year searching for a series 1 XJ6. I looked at ten different cars and passed each time. Some were complete disasters and others optimistically priced. I kept running into this series 3 on craigslist. It sat there for months. On a whim I went to see it. It had been sitting in the backyard for two years and in desperate need of attention. I managed to get it to run on starting fluid for a moment, made a lowball offer and had it trucked home. I couldn't believe it was in my driveway. After a long weekend putting the wiring harness back together, changing fluids, draining gas tanks and praying a bit; it started right up. The A/C works. It drives like a dream. I purchased XJR wheels for it. Getting it legal in California has been a chore but worth the effort in the end. This forum has already been wildly encouraging (story here). Thanks for having me.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

I cannot believe it but this afternoon I purchased a 1972 series 1. It's in desperate need of interior work and you wouldn't want to get closer than 20 feet to the paint. Two XJ6's now living at my house. Good thing the divorce already happened.

Here they are side by side at the charity organization where I made the purchase. Supposedly donated to the church by a little old lady from Pasadena. It made the 40 minute LA rush hour trip home with no drama at all.

 

Ha! The theory proves itself again. Congratulations.
