My two Cats say "Hello!" from North Carolina (USA)
Just found this forum, and am eager to learn from those with more experience.
I owned a 1974 XJ-12L briefly years ago (late '80s) when I lived in Suffolk, England. But she sadly proved to be too much mistress for my meager means at the time... I swore when I had to give her up that I would have keys to another Jaguar on the keyring I bought for that car before it wore out.
Last autumn, I managed to keep that promise! Following much research and lots of shopping across the entire country, I found a very nice '96 XJS that I've been getting acquainted with over the following months.
A few months later, I also found a '97 Vanden Plas that was too good to pass up.
The XJS is our fair-weather, weekend adventure car. We supremely enjoy top-down jaunts together through the many lovely, scenic byways that surround us in "Hyacinth" (So named because she's a somewhat older, slightly eccentric English Gal who's helping us to, um, 'Keep Up Appearances'... <grin>)
The Vanden Plas is my daily driver -- and "Vandy" is a lovely treat. She helps assuage the temptation to jump into the XJS every time I leave the driveway.
In addition to caring for and driving our Cats, we enjoy Cruising, I enjoy flying, and we are getting much pleasure out of spoiling our first grandchild, now 7 months old.

Welcome to the forums Drizzle,
Good to have you with us. That 1995/96 Dumfries registration should keep the NC Police guessing!
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xjs-x27-32/ to the XJS forum and this one https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/ to the X308 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top of each is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Thank you Graham for the helpful info. I'll bear that in mind.
It's a pleasing happenstance that in North Carolina, we are not issued front registration plates, and are free to 'wear' anything we like in its place. Therefore, both that 'showplate' and the road tax disk I had recreated are an homage to my first Jaguar -- pictured below...
And to everyone else, my sincere thanks for a warm welcome!

My too-briefly owned 1974 XJ-12L, Suffolk, England
My '96 XJS, with a recreated road-tax disk honoring (and all data correct for...) my first Jaguar.

I had a Daimler Double Six VdP Series One which rarely got into double figure MPG (pre HE days) so I went back to six cylinder models. My XJ6 Series II was the same year as yours and I found the build quality had hit an all time low. It was looking very ragged around the edges after five years.

British Leyland and Joseph Lucas didn't do Jaguar many favours during that season... I am very glad that the Marque survived those years to become better again.

Thank you.
Since this is the second suggestion I've had about adding my car details to my signature, is there something I've left out of my signature? I thought I had included everything that was required...

NO - signature has all the details although putting the two vehicles on separate lines below the photos would make it easier for readers to absorb at a glance.
1997 Vanden Plas in Cabernet Pearl (4.0L AJ16, 99,000)
1996 XJS in Topaz (4.0L AJ16, 106,000)
We don't have any rules about signature layout other than the filesize limits on photo sizes.
