Nearly An XJR Owner

Nearly An XJR Owner
I'm just about to join the ranks of Jaguar owners. I have the choice of 3 X306 XJRs but I'm concerned about the fuel they need. I live in Thailand and sometimes unleaded 95 is hard to find, whereas gasohol 95 is all over the place!
Does anyone know whether I can safely use gasohol 95 (90% petrol and 10% ethanol) in the XJR? I have done a search but there's no answers.
I may have to get an X300 (N/A), any ideas on the fuel requirement for that model?
Thanks, everyone.

Welcome to the forums! You'll be right at home in the
X300 section, where there is model specific advice.
Congrats on choosing the XJR. I love my XJR and they
are beautiful cars.
Most US users run 10% ethanol fuel, and I have run
93 (or 91) octane 10%eth in the XJR and it is not a problem in
either the V8 or the AJ16 to my knowledge. The owners
manual should be available as a PDF, ethanol in fuels
is covered in each owners manual.
Both the supercharged and naturally aspirated models can get
away just fine with ethanol in the fuel to my knowledge. If given
the choice (rare in the US market), however, I never use ethanol.
In Tulsa, it is easy to find ethanol free fuels.

Welcome to the forum Bill999,
Is that a typo for X308 (1997 - 2003)?
If so, see the section on 'Oxygenated Gasoline' is this extract from the XJ8/XJR Vehicle Care Handbook (click on the image to enlarge it):
If you need to consider an X300 (1995 - 1997), here is the equivalent advice from the Vehicle Care Handbook:
Jaguar build different engine management specifications for different markets and these are tailored to local fuel availability. If the models you are considering were originally supplied to the Far East, you should be OK.
Good luck in the search for the right vehicle.

X306 is the codename for the XJR6 Supercharged six-cylinder, but it is essentially an X300
Welcome to the forum Bill!
Actually your tech section will be the X300
No experience with E10 as it's often called. Sorry, can't help with that...
