Default Need Your Opinion

Hi Everyone:

Need your opinion. I am going to purchase a 2011 XKR. I have found two identical cars as to my preferred color and options. Physical condition is also nearly identical. The only material difference is price and mileage.

My use of this car will be as a third/fourth car (though my favorite ). Most likely less than 2500 miles a year. I plan to keep the car for 30 years.

Car #1 is 11,000 miles with 11 month platinum warranty remaining. Price is $55,000. Two owners, age/gender unknown.

Car #2 is 55,000 miles, $40,500. One owner, 63 year old male.

I have to pay use tax on the car at 9% so the difference is about $16,000.

What are your thoughts? Does 55K miles make you nervous? Does anyone know of a good extended warranty, especially one that is long in years and short in miles? Thank you so much for your time and opinion.

55,000 miles is just well broken in where I come from! Far less than half the life of the car has been used up. With *proper care* it should go 200,000 miles anyway.

If you purchase the one having 55 000 miles, you should have the gearbox pan, connector sleeve and fluid replaced as the ZF 6HP26 gearbox is prone to leakage from those two places. Having the gearbox serviced correctly can also help prolong its service life.

I spoke to my dealer and he indicated $2,000 for fluid and filter. Does that sound right? Thanks again.
You can certainly have the gearbox serviced by a competent local Jaguar specialist for about 600$US using ZF LifeGuard6 fluid.
