Default New 2002 X-Type 3.0L sedan owner - rear defrost problem

Hi Gang,

I just purchased a 2002 x-type 4 door sedan down her in Palm City, Fl, with only 49,000 miles on it. So far, other than changing out a few things, I'm very pleased with the performance. One thing did come up, however, that has stumped me. I can't get the rear defrost to work. The front switch lights up when pressed, but there appears to be no power to the back window. I've checked all fuses and relays associated with rear defrost, but all appear to fine. Does anyone know where on the rear window the electrical attaches, or have any other ideas to check?

The electrical connections are beneath the rear parcel shelve cover. You remove the seat belt covers and you can remove the parcel shelve and the electrical connections will be visible.
I would recommend a thorough inspection of the window for cracks or broken wire traces for the heating element.
In the engine compartment fuse 4 (30amp) controls the relay to the rear heated window. The relay is #19 in the passenger compartment fuse box beneath the dash.

It is quicker and you get more responses if you post in the X400 section of the forum. Below is a link to the X400 section of the forum.

I'd go for the simplest possibility first - that the connections on the glass have been disturned during a pre-sales clean. Fuses and relays are likely to be OK if the switch is lighting up.
