New 2002 x-type owner questions
I just bought a 2002 x-type, 2.5. Actually, wife bought it, but I get it since it's a stick .
A couple questions. First, what should I be looking for as far as problem areas? I've heard that Jags do a lot of shop time, and would like to spot problems before they get really expensive. I'm a pretty good anature mechanic and am used to repairing/solving problems myself.
Second, I want to change oil immediately. Is it really neccessary to replace the oil plug at each change??? Also, what's a good oil for thisw beast?
Thanks,
Bill

Hey Bill, welcome to our site, great to have you here with us
good intro thanks a for sharing
The Xtype section is awesome, full of great members....all good....Had an X type myself, great ride and the AWD is excellent. You're going to want to change the T/C oil using the method as posted in the X type section.......Supposedly "sealed for life" but you really need to be keeping a close eye on that.
Do yourself a favour and read through ALL the posts in the X type quick FAQ link thread.
Loads going on, plenty of very friendly and helpful members as well as some excellent tech advice......all good!
In the meantime I've manually upgraded you to full forum access so you can better view the site

Hello Bill and welcome to jaguarforums.com.
One other thing you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for.
Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site.
Also, should you have questions related to your vehicle please post it in the section for your model year (MY) car. This way you will reach all the members that are familiar with your MY car.
