Hello follow members. I just purchased a 97 Jaguar XK8 with Just under 71k miles on her. The car is in sorry shape so I will probably be on here quite a bit as I sort things out. I made the mistake of buying it sight unseen on the internet after I promised myself I would never do such a thing. Well, now it's time to get busy and make lemonade. My first issue is coolant leaks and a check engine light that comes on after it gets warm. I'm thinking there might be a number of issues with the cooling system. I am handy and love to dig in. After all, I am an MGB owner too. So if any of you have suggestions where to begin I'm listening.
Glad to be a part of the Jaguar community.
As a side note I'm not sure I like the user ID I made up. I guess I can live with it LOL.

Thanks Jim. I may send you a PM, still deciding.
Steve - The guy I bought the car from was a broker of sorts and he had the Jaguar dealer in Ft. Lauderdale area do a full inspection of the car. There are a lot of issues on there. I have not run a scan on it myself but I do have access to a scanner but will. The dealers report list the following: Thermostat housing/cover/hose/water pump/out pipe/drive belt/leak. So it sounds like an overhaul of the whole coolant system minus the radiator. So I think I will replace all the parts called out in the report. I just need some tips on how to approach this.
Thanks for the quick reply. It sounds like I need to move over to the XK8 forum.

Welcome to the forum Jeff,
Provided it hasn't been over heated, you'd have almost certainly had do do some work on the cooling system (replacement Water Pump and Thermostat are regulars) so it may not be as bad you think. Get the codes read and post them in the tech section for an explanation of possible causes.
Follow Norris' link to the XK8/XKR tech section for help, advice and information. If you're new to this model, the 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
Enjoy the forum.
