Default New - again !

I joined the forum in April, as smith356. I had some computer problems and couldn't remember my password. No luck re-setting. I'm now back on the forum and hoping the admin. can resolve this. For review, I have a 98 XJR, sapphire blue/ivory. Lot's of things to do on it - just got it in April. This forum is wonderful ! I also have a 93 Cadillac Allante and this forum puts that forum to shame. Thanks, everyone, Jim

Welcome back, in a Claytons sort of way.

I feel sure the boys at the pointy end will sort it all out.

I know the feeling on other forums, as I lurch around a few related to the fleets of classics I caretake, and they are a disgrace to be polite.

Hello again.
Hopefully things will go better for you this time.
Do you not have a Password Mangler? This might be a good place to use one.

Welcome back Jim,

I've checked smith356 and the user account shows 20 Posts with last login yesterday.

Do you want to continue with this bagytop account and forget about the smith356 one or would you prefer to have a password reset on the smith356 account and drop this one?

I can see you know your way around the tech and Regional forums so no need for links from me.

Graham

Hi there,
I can merge both accounts to preserve post count etc etc if desired.

Please pm me and let me know which account you'd like to keep and password required etc and I can make it happen for you

Graham, I would like to go back to smith356, but each time I try a re-set I get a notice saying my address is invalid - this in spite of the fact that the forgotten e-mail link does reach me at my address. Your help is greatly appreciated............. Jim (Update - see post from Jim) Thank you very much !

Jim,

I've PM'd Admin asking him to merge your two accounts and reset the smith356 password.

Actually the term is Password Manager but I mangle lots of things.

It's perhaps part of your browser that saves often used username and passwords and other login information. You probably had something like that on your other computer that allowed you to log in here at will. Of course if you use one of these, you need to have good security on your computer.

Alternatively you could simply make a note of all your passwords and store them in a safe place.
