Default New first Jaguar need lots of help

Just joined up. Been reading a lot of the info here on the forum. This is our Families first Jaguar. Bought it for my daughter that is in college. It has the 4.0 V8. Got it off an auction site which said it was a run and drive. It won't turn over. Install a new battery reading 12.46V. I hear the starter solenoid click, but the starter won't turn over. I am able to turn over the motor my hand. All the lights come on in the car. No security message comes across the OD. I really don't think its the starter. Any idea's?

I'm sorry to read your very first Jaguar is misbehaving. What a disappointment for your whole family. This is just the sort of thing that gives Jaguar a bad name, and it's not the car's fault.

I hope you get a handle on the problem soon so your daughter can then drive the wheels off.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome.

Try the gearlever in N instead of P, sometimes that neutral start switch plays up.

See ya in the S Type section.

Default Thanks for the warm welcome

Other problems is the sunroof motor works but the glass doesn't move. Water in the floor. The right side turn signal doesn't work. I mainly just want it to start and run. Then I can work on the other stuff. you would think with a new battery it would start right up. Just clicks.

I tried that. The solenoid still just clicks. When you put it in D or a gear it doesn't click. N and P solenoid clicks. Just won't turn over.
