After a lot of wrangling with the seller in Britain, I decided not to purchase the one over there. There seems to be a big difference between my and his opinion of a "rust free" automobile. Fortunately I found out the car's true condition before I sent any money.
Oddly enough, I found a second convertible, 5 speed manual; this time in Canada! With so few of them coming over to the US/Canadian markets (I have since found out only about 100 convertible 5-speeds imported over 3 years)
I've negotiated a fair price, and now awaiting delivery, hopefully in the next few weeks.
I can't wait to discover what she'll need to truely make her road worthy. Its going to be a long winter for me.

Our combination of regular rain and the highway authority's enthusiam for spreading salted grit at the slightest hint of a drop below freezing was very hard on early Jaguars. Examples from the 60's through 80's are a rare sight and most survivors will have had or require extensive body repairs.

Good to hear you found a better example and also avoided the additional difficulties of import.

Came in from Canada last night.
I have a lot to figure out.
No owners manual, only a partial supliment came with the car.
Once I get it registered , I will take it to a mechanic to have them go over the car.
Hopefully I can have it on the road before they start salting the streets.
