New to the Forum .. but not to Jags and Imports
In my retirement, I decided to dive back into one of my early loves: buying, driving, and fixing European cars. Though I started as a teen on bikes (Ducati, BSA) and scooters (Cushman), quickly moved to 4 wheels with an early 50's VW convertible (caught it on fire, too many guys in bk seat shorted batt), '57 MGA, '61 TR3A, TR4, '63 XKE convertible, many MGB's, MG Midget, (2) Fiat 124's, Peugeot sedan, (4) Datsun Zs (240, 260, 280), many VW's (bugs, camper, bus), several new and old 3 Series Bimmer's, a 83' 911SC, '03 Boxster (along w an IMS failure), etc.
I lived overseas in Singapore for 6 years (so leased company cars ruled). Then family needs moved me to SUV's. I've been "away" far too long.
My latest adventure is a 1998 Jaguar XK8 (purchased a few months ago alas w a timing chain failure). Only had 77k on it, was clean, but needed attention. Now with head work done (4 exhaust valves), new tires, some engine updates, I've driven the car to its new home in Sebring. Booked a space at Haggarty's SpeedTour last weekend and thought I'd get to drive the XK8 on the Sebring track tour. But alas again, days before the event, the Throttle Body/TPS went out. Now I hope to learn from my fellow forum buddies about early TPS's (-1003), etc.
Happy to be back!
