Hi everyone,
Although I just got my first Jaguar, I'm not at all new to the breed. Growing up, my Dad had a '56 XK 140 Fixed Head Coupe andI believe a 1960 Mark IX. Without a Jag dealer close, he needed both to make sure one ran.
I'm a Telecom Network Engineer but in 2001 I went toworkin sales at a Jaguar Dealership in NC. Getting a sweet Jag for a demo vehicle didn't suck. While there, I learned these babies inside and out. I definitely agree with the then President of Jaguar NA whensaying that "although the X-Type and S-Type have definite Ford influences, the XJs and XKs will always remain true Jaguars".
The XK8 in any form is always a chick magnet, even witha Dealer plate on the back. The pre-2004 XJs are by far my favorites though, especially the VDPs.
I found this forum by doing some research when buying my 2001 VDP. I didn't need the car, but it was the right car, in the right place,at the right time and at the right price. It's Anthracite paint is nearly flawless and the Cashmere interior literally looks like it's never been sat in.
The only flaw I can find is the very slight belt pulley chirp when the AC is running. Even though it's very slight, I want to fix it, so if anyone has had the similar symptom, I'd love to hear what you found. Everything I've found points to the idler pulley.
Anyway, that's me and how I got here.
