Default New to the forum, not so new to Jags

Hi all,

I owned a 1987 SERIES III XJ6 for about 14 years. A great car but it did throw a couple good repair challenges at me. Alas that car ha to be put to rest a couple years ago. I've just picked up a 2002 X-Type, 3.0, 5 speed manual, silver on black leather with under 85K miles on her. This car is actually for my kid, but I like it so much I might have to get one for myself (we live in the Sierra Nevada Mountains east of Placerville and get snow). Anyway, my son had a nice 1985 Porsche 944 that he totaled into a tree after hitting a buck. He was fine as it was the passenger side o the car that took the hit, and there were no passengers. My wife was adamant that he be in something with oodles of airbags after that, and he wanted a manual trans, and I wanted him to have all wheel drive if possible. THe X-Type seemed to fit the I'll. This car has a salvage title from a rear end accident 7 years ago. I picked it up for $3600. It does have an engine noise issue that becomes apparent after the car warms up, a rata-a-tat that starts at about 1800 RPM or so, I'll post this for discussion in the X-Type forum.

Thanks,
Dennis

Welcome to the forum Dennis,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you've already found your way to the X-Type tech section so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Western Region forum by following this link Western US - AK CA NV OR UT HI WA ID - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

Enjoy the forums.
