new to the group - "unlumping" my 62 roadster
just starting the long road to restore my dad's 62 roadster which i bought from him --- which my 9 tear old thinks will be what he drives to high school instead of the 2020 model year toyota corrolla he will actually be driving to hs.
good news: one family owned --- vitrually no rust even under the seats, control arm mounts or up under the footwell carpeting (only found a tiny area oddly enough near the license plate mounting area) calif car stored for 20+ years.
bad news: my dad dumped the 3.8/moss years ago in the 70's for a 302 ford /c4 --- i guess better than the chev sb because the ford did not require any welding on the frame since the mounts were bolt on but I'll have to reshape the trans tunnel a bit to original dimensions.
so my replacement 3.8 is on its way across country.
will uprate a bit with high comp pistons, alum radiator, mild head work and better cam profiles to match up with 3 DCOE 45's, tigged support gussets on the subframe, 4pot front calipers and drilled rotors and one of the jt5 trans conversions.
anyone else "un-lumped" an E here before?
I'd be appreciative of any thoughts from anybody who has travelled this path before --- maybe good sources for ancillary parts (i know of xk's and sng barratt etc) but maybe other less premium cost outlets?? --- things also like tips on how best to remove the bonnet for access

Welcome to the forum roadster62,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I can see you've already found your way to the E-Type tech section so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues. You should start a thread on our restoration. There's always huge interest in E-Types from many members, both owners and those who can only dream.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Western Region forum by following this link Western US - AK CA NV OR UT HI WA ID - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham
