New Guy looking for XJ8 tips!
Hey everyone, I'm Brian and I've admired Jaguar's ever since I can remember but could never afford one. Recently I came across a local Christian non-for profit car dealership that runs on car donarship. They have a beautiful burgundy 2001 Jaguar XJ8 base sedan, car is very clean in and out, 92,000 miles on it and they only want $4,700 for it (I think some Pastor had donated it a little while ago.) Anyways before I buy it I want to know a little more about the car from first hand owners, what kind of maintenance am I looking at? A lot of people say they're unreliable (mostly people who don't own one and never have.) And as far as parts go, where is a good place to go online to order? And most of all, is it worth it? I mean, after all, it's still a Jag Any comments welcome and I'm hoping to join the big cat family soon!

welcome to the forums Brian, i bought my 00 XJ8 for 4k, so that price seems a little steep to me. as for unreliable, its only if the previous owner didnt care to replace a part that goes bad. even Japanese cars have parts that will go bad and break, so i guess you could say that every car is unreliable in that aspect. if you go to the X308 section you will find lots of guys who help out others with part numbers and best places to order parts online. now is it worth it, is another thing, you could drive a common Toyota Camry, which is a very dull car, or you could drive a strikingly beautiful Jaguar, that will turn heads, this car has a lot of character, and is an absolute dream to drive.
