New guy old guy

Greetings all:
I have not had a day in decades when I haven't owned a Jag, I have owned two XKE's and a hell of a bunch of XJ sedans all series III.
XJ12 mostly and a couple of XJ6. My first Jag was in the late 70's
I stumbled upon this forum while randomly searching for Jag stuff.
I panicked over a few things I saw but they were from a few years ago it seems. I dislike the spreading of old wives tales and some utter nonsense about Jaguar's and detest the act of making a "lump". It feels rather like defending a ladies honour when addressing the complications of Jaguar ownership.
I do however bite my tongue and understand when a V12 blows it is far too expensive and complicated for the average guy to fix so for the sake of keeping a Jag on the road, hats off then.
I do all my own work on my cars I am not afraid to take them anywhere on the continent and I have done so. I have overcome every problem includung a death defying mountain side descent in Pennsylvania, (brake lines burst) to an exploded exhaust manifold in North Carolina. (Still can't explain how that happened!)
I do have extensive knowledge of all things Jaguar but I do not want to set myself up as an expert. I know what I know but I refuse to guess at what I do not. Age should make you smarter yes?
I hope to be able to help here and there, learn something new now and again and perhaps ask a question or two myself sometime.
So thanks for keeping this forum up and see you in the XJ section!

welcome justV12, you'll come in handy over there in the XJ sections...lots of members, and lots of confused posts.
I'm sure you'll be able to sort out a few of them. There's lots of information rattling around in that head of yours that you haven't even thought about sharing yet...just wait...you'll be reading some obscure question about the A/C unit or shocks, and you'll be there to save the day. looking forward to it!
Ahoy from the US border! (great, another canadian, that's like two in 2 days) lol

More Canadians in the past while than in a long while. Welcome. Don't just hang out in the XJ section. Take some time away from sorting fiction and fact and hang around in general.

Wow, great intro. Like H2O said, spread the wealth. There are plenty of "old wives tales" in all areas. The funny thing is the one Jag I have lusted after since I was young is a XJ-S V12. I may still get one, but who knows when. Anyway, welcome to the forums and enjoy....

Hello again thankyou all for the welcome.
JOsworth, I am sorry that the series III XJ12 never made it to the US in official form.
What a well sorted car it is! In Canada we enjoyed the series III untill it's demise in 1992. I have raised my bonnet many times in the US to demonstrate the fact that a Canadian Van Den Plas has a very real V 12 engine in place.
Now I must say I was equally surprised and disapointed to find the US VDP was an XJ-6 still though, a fine car. You did however get the series two XJ12 until 1979.
Either way you should be able to realize that dream. When I have the time I shall post some photos of my past and present loves.
Well again thank you all and I will see you in the forums!
