Cool New Jag owner

Hello to all, this is the 1st time I have ever joined a Forum. So yup I'm a rookie. So here goes. I said I am a new Jag owner, that means new to me. I bought a 2003 X type 2.5 with 146,000 . It had a check engine light. Took it to a local garage (national chain) and it showed all 4 O2 sensors. The guy I bought the car from did put on aftermarket catalytic converter's on it and that's when engine light came on and he never had them cleared. My garage cleared codes. A mile later liht came back on and it showed bank 1 upstream & bank 2 downstream. Then A battery light came on and the positive cable was scorching hot. I read the forum and it was suggested to change cables. When assesing how cables were attached i noticed a small (2 wire) cable coming out of the positive cable that connects to the fuse box, this small wire is not pluged into anything. I'm hoping someone can tell me what it for and where it goes, and also could the aftermarket converters cause the O2 sensor fault. I am showin 22 mpg's in town only drivin. Thanks in advance for any help. And just in case anyone's wandering. Yes, I look just like Mr Clean. You see a bottle you see me...

Default 1st Jag

Hello everyone,
Just bought a 2003 X Type 2.5 with 146,000. It has a couple issues but nothing that can't be taken care of with the help from everyone on this forum. Car is near showroom condition. I live in South Florida.

It certainly sounds like your car needs some TLC! Not surprising at 146,000 miles. Doubtless our X-type section can help you with all those codes.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum Mrclean1,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you've already found your way to the X-Type forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Lower Atlantic Region forum by following this link US Lower Atlantic - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.
