Hi Folks,
Grew up around Jags.. my father was originally a British Leyland mechanic and then ultimately the Service Manager for Jaguar Canada. Later in his career he did a lot of engineering work at the factory in Coventry. Dad always had company cars to bring home.. we had the first TR-8 in Canada (badged as a TR-7), I learned to drive in a Cooper S and it was always a treat when he brought home an XJ-S. A joke in our family was that when the ashtray was full it was time for a new Jag!
My father raced TR-3s and other similar British made sports cars in the 50's. We spent a lot of time watching the Bob Tulius Group 44 Jaguars compete in North America and had the amazing experience of seeing the Silk Cats race in Europe several times. Eventually I raced karts, superkarts and then formula cars until I figured out I had to get a real job.
My dad is many years retired now, well into his 80s. He's been on a mission to get the whole family into Jags - my sister drives an XK-R convertible, my Mum drives an X Type, my other sister has a X Type and... this weekend he bought me a 2002 S Type off of a dealer listing on Craigslist!
He talked the dealer down to $3500. At first I was very skeptical of a S Type and I was going to talk him out of it, but he bought the car anyways (my wife and I could really use a second car and my Dad was refusing to take any money for it). As soon as I sat in the car I had that paradoxically exhilarating and worrying feeling of being a Jag owner for the first time in my life.
The car has a few issues, the handling is not what it should be so I am going to post to these forums for some guidance.. hence the intro.
Cheers,
Eamonn aka eggman

Welcome to this friendly Forum, Eamonn, thanks for the interesting intro.
I think one's relationship with Jaguars is always ambivalent.
I see you've found the S type section.
There's a Regional section which, somewhat paradoxically, includes Mexico so you'll need to buy a Sombrero.
