Default New Jag owner in Dallas

Hello everyone, I recently bought a 2001 XK8 Coupe. I looked very hard for 3 months before making my purchase and I am looking forward to the miles ahead. My car was previously owned by a retired Jag mechanic and at 54K miles, it has already had the Timing Chain Tensioners upgraded. I look forward to this Forum and learning how to enjoy my Jag without it putting me in the poor-house!

Welcome, Rodney! I'm also a new member. I have a '99 xk8 coupe with 120k mi. that just refuses to die. I just found another Jag, a 2003 xkr and I'm in love. The old cat is
definitely jealous.

You're going to really enjoy this site. The guys are great and super knowledgeable. They will save you a lot of money in the future. Be sure to read some of the older threads and
faqs. They are full of great pointers.

I also live in Dallas. Perhaps, will bump into one another. Can't wait to have access to]
some of the pics. You have to post about a dozen threads to get permission to access
certain functions on this site. Good luck. Ed.

Good morning Ed. Have you used "Jim's Jag Repair Shop" here in Dallas yet? I need to get my passenger seat back control repaired and wondering how good a shop they are.

Welcome to the forum Rodney. Hope you get your seat fixed.

(PS, I don't see a problem).

Hey Fellas! I'm also new to the site and live in the mid-cities area near Dallas! Just 2 weeks ago I purchased my 1st Jag, the XK-R convertible and I'm loving the looks I get! We should all get together sometime and hang out!

I stopped by to get acquainted with jimjagshop folks but have not used them. If you are in their neighborhood, on the same trip you can also check out the independent Jag shop I have used for the past four (almost) years: www.jagmacjaguartexascom
at 2320 Merrell Road, Dallas, TX 75229 (972-241-5747). I have found them to be knowlegeable, dependable and fair. Not cheap, but the good ones never are.

Welcome to this Forum!

I would avoid this shop like the plague. I visited it recently and it was a bloody mess.

I would recommend Motorcars Ltd. @ 2016 Keller Springs Rd. Carrollton

972-416-8999. The Service Manager their is named Mike Ortiz. He has a 2000 xkr convt.

I haven't used them yet. I do have some issues with the computer on the driver's side in the '99 coupe. Their fix will save me hundreds. They appear very knowledgeable.

And unlike JimsJag shop, this place is clean and professional. Their hourly rate is $90.

Tell Mike I referred you to him and demand your "Cool Guy" discount! Good luck.

EdTexas,

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't live far from them so I'll check them out this week and ask for the "Cool Guy" discount, even if my kids don't think I would qualify for it!

Hi EZFan,

I stopped by Jim's Jag yesterday and talked to Jim. He seems like a nice guy and very knowledgeable but he has a lot full of cars on his lot and hardly no parking for new customers. I got the impression that he might be in the used Jag sales business too. he is a long distance from me so I'll look for someone closer to my home in the Addison/Plano area.

Hi Everyone,

I want to give an update from Jim's son on Jim's condition. Jim has suffered from chronic circulation problems. He has under gone some amputations of the toe’s and is schedule up for vein replacement to increase blood flow to affected areas of his legs. His son has taken over the shop while his father is laid up.
Keep him in your prayers.

Hi Rodney and welcome. I'm a new owner too. I flew to Dallas last week to pick our Jag up. Anyone looking for a pre-owned Jag Texascarsdirect.com treated me very well has a large selection, no pressure, and no surprises or hidden fees. Seth provided us with the best car buying experience we have ever had. We got an absolutely beautiful vehicle with very low miles for about $8,000 under Blue Book.
