Hello you Jagiar-lovers;
We, Rudy and my wife Jolanda, and real Jaguar-lovers, living in Deventer, Holland.
And since 2 months we are the proud owners of a Jaguar 4.2 XJ from 1978 (series 2).
We have driven this car for a month, and in this time we noticed some severe problems: the engine and the gearbox don't run well, the grand ol' lady leaks pretty much oil and there is quite a bit of rust around the body.
So, asked around, and a Jaguar-specialist told me that it is do-able to exchange the engine from a engine of a X300. So, we bought a X300 in Germany and nam ow I quite busy with 'Suus' (so we named her)
But, however I consider myself as a reasonable capable mechanic, it isn't a easy job: ie. the removal of the heatercore (allmost completely rosted away) took me a whole day, and for fitting the newengine you must alter the engine-mounts, the speedometer, the gear-selector, the exhaust, electronics but it is fun to do!
Altough I am not a Jaguar-specialist, I shall try to help everybody if I can. But keep in mind that I a PC is niot favorite thing, so I am not a lot of time online....
With friendly greetings from Holland, Rudy

Welcome to the forums Rudy & Jolanda,
Good to have you with us.
I can see you've already found your way to the XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also use the Europe Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/europe-42/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham
