New To Jaguar: 2016 F-Type S
Greetings, all. Seeking to be active in the forum, getting my minimum posts in.
Long-time Corvette guy (and still a dyed-in-the-wool Chevy truck fan); finally decided it was time to move on from the street-legal race car that was my 2011 Z06. Wanted something far more refined for Hill Country cruising. Also, wanted to be able to hear music and hold a conversation without shouting. Really loved that car, but woof--it was no good as a back-roads cruiser.
Kind of over the moon for the little F-Type. Tough decision to downgrade from the N/A 427 (it's all about displacement, right?), but the supercharged 6 just pulls and pulls; it's a delight. I miss that deep bass rumble, but am learning to love the raspier exhaust note. Car feels more planted and less twitchy than the Z06. Plus, there's no way around it--it is a much prettier car than the C-6 Corvette.
Tested a used Maserati GranTurismo, as well. May have just been that car, but it felt much mushier and more disconnected from the road than the F-Type. That Ferrari V8 sounded like a choir of angels, though.
I remember drooling over cheap, worn-out E-Types in Auto Trader as a kid. Fun to close the loop on those dreams with its descendant.
So, a question to get you all engaged: as a new member of the Jaguar family, what are a few things I should be prepared to be delighted/surprised/shocked by?
Thanks.
Mike

Hello, Mike,
Congratuations on your new F-type Jaguar!
Although I grew up in a rabid Chevy family, I could never see the allure of the Corvettes. So I agree Heartily, your new F-type IS a Much prettier car.

Keep in mind, F-type requires spec oil and is very sensitive to old engine oil as variable timing is all controlled by oil pressure. Go above and beyond on oil changes. Also, the car doesn't warn you about low oil condition - so you have to manually check it through the dash (as there is no dipstick).
