Default New to the Jaguar family

Hello all! My name is Brian and I’m fixing to be the lucky owner of this 2007 Jaguar XJ8. I live in Houston Texas and the car is based out of California. I plan on flying over next week and picking up the car and driving it back. First time owning a Jaguar so safe to say I’m quite excited. Hope to meet some of you sometime!

Welcome to the forums Brian,

Good to have you with us and to hear you will be driving the Jaguar home. Looks around 1500 miles? That'll be worthy of a post with photos.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-x350-x358-28/ to the X350 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Southwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-southwest-37/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Thank you for the warm welcome Graham!

Glad to be here for sure. It's looking like it'll be around 1,900 miles as the car is near Napa Valley. Will definitely be sure and post pictures on the way back. Plan on breaking it into a few days as its quite the drive.
I have saved that forum in my bookmarks so I can be sure and check it out. I also have the US Southwest Region forum saved, but need to post my name there to show I'm in Texas. Also was sure to road the guidance for new members first thing when I joined the forum so I've got that down. Will go through it again to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Thanks again for the assistance!

Good to have you with us.
Enjoy the forum.

If you haven't done so already you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.

Hello, Brian,
Congratulations on your First Jaguar!
I agree with Grant above; Driving the car a considerable distance right off the bat is the Best and in fact Only way to really get to know it and Bond with it.

And, although some think it's a silly thought, the car will Bond with you too (cuz Jaguars are the closest thing to living machines).

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Default Enjoy the ride home!

Beautiful car! I’ve always love the wood trim inn the Jaguars and with my F-Type and incorporated that.

Have fun on your drive home, that sounds like a the best way to bond!

Default Wanted to update y’all on the trip.

Below are some of the pictures I took the way back to Houston Texas. Being I was starting off my journey in Angels Camp, Californa as that’s where my friend had a shop to check out the car, I thought It best and more fun to go through the Sierras up into Utah through the salt flats and back down. Ultimately ended up being a longer trip but was throughly more enjoyable. I managed to catch the World Finals going on at Bonneville Speedway on the 29th of September. Truly was a memorable experience visiting Bonneville and driving through the mountains and I hope to do it again soon. For those curious as to the road’s I traveled, after starting in Angel’s Camp Californa I went up highway 4, up to 89 and then highway 88 through to Carson City and stayed on 580 till Reno and hopped on 80 all the way to the Salt Flats in Utah. From there I went around Salt Lake City, continued south on 15 till I got to Spanish Fork Utah and went down US 89 to highway 6 and onto 191 until I got to Green River and hopped onto I -70. That way through Utah was extremely beautiful and I’d happily do it again. Took I -70 all the way to Denver and stayed the night in Fort Collins as I’ve got family there. Next day continued to take 70 through Kansas till I -135 to 35 south to OKC and onto Houston the next day.

What a Wonderful Getting-to-know-you trip!
Many of those roads I've taken (in my misspent youth it was like my back yard) but I never got to Speed Week (to my regret) and never got farther East than Salt Lake.

Thank you for sharing.
