I concluded negotiations to buy an XK8 today. It is a blue 2002 model with 105,000 miles. The seller will have the small quarter light on the driver side fixed so the convertible top will work fixed. I am looking forward to driving this car in sunny southern California. I just hope the car does not need to much maintenance.

Welcome to the forum RobtXK8,

Congratulations on the XK8. Follow this link XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR section for help and advice. A good place to start is the HOW TO section at the top of the threads there. It will give you good information on what to look for on your model.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You might also want to visit the Western US Region section by following this link Western US - AK CA NV OR UT HI WA ID - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forum.

Welcome to this friendly Forum. Do make sure the top works before parting with cash.
If you follow Graham's good advice and visit your car's section you'll find a lot about the top in the HOW-TO section.
Consider fitting a pressure relief vale ASAP.
