Hi Everyone!
So I have recently come into ownership of my dads old 97 Jag XK8 and oh boy is she rough around the edges. She needs a lot of love and I aim to give it hopefully with some advice from this community.
For starters she’s a British Racing Green with tan interior convertible (tan top)
Probably has around 150k on the clock and a laundry list of to do items because she’s been sitting for a while.
Things I know I have to do are the:
valve cover gaskets
spark plugs
timing chain tensioners
fuel filter
coolant flush (replace thermostat)
heater hose
oil cooler hose
suspension
replace the transmission
new battery
repair seats
replace door panels
clean up the carpet
re-paint the car
and probably more things I will find as I go along...
Ill throw some pictures up soon of how she looks today and progress pictures as I restore her back to her former glory.
I know it sounds like its a heap of trouble to restore but I think the cars too beautiful to just scrap at a junkyard..soo if anyone has any other tips or ideas for things that should probably be looked at that I may have missed please feel free to tell me! This weekend I am starting with the valve cover gaskets and the timing chain tensioners (just the uppers)
anyways thanks for reading and happy motoring guys!

Hello,
Congratulations on getting your Dad's Jaguar!
Some people say restoration of ANY car is a complete waste of time and money. You'll find people here vehemently disagree with that sentiment.
I have found the restoration and repair of a "new" car is part of the fun of ownership; and the car rewards me with Years of faithful, trouble free driving.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
