new to Jaguar. thirsty for knowledge
I came about this car by chance. Ive never considered a Jag because of the stigma behind their electronics. After reading reviews for the 97 XJ6 (4.0), I decided to take a chance. The car is gorgeous. Im not even sure anyone has ever ridden in the back seat before. I bought this car, looking to rebuild my life. I will have to have an interlock system installed in this car. Im praying it doesnt completely mess up my ignition. The only thing wrong i can find with this car is the AC doesnt blow cold, and it could use an updated head unit and speakers. any advice from novice owners is much appreciated. Im not sure what ive gotten myself in to.

Welcome.
What have you got into," A JAGUAR MATE".
You must have faith, thats all.
The X300 (the model notation for that car) is the best, most reliable of the bunch.
Age is now knocking on the door, as with ANY car, so I suggest ALL tHE fluids get changed out, then at least YOU know the bench mark.
ALL the hoses should also get done.
I replaced my head unit with a Pioneer, with USB input on the front, and removed the stacker. The head unit and the stacker that came in the car never communicated, and I wanted USB versus CD anyway. Very simple swap.
Your choice on an imobiliser, but I remove them when one of mine comes with NON factory stuff, way too much trouble.
Down where I call home, NO ONE steals a Jag, too much hassle, plenty of easier cars to steal, luv it.

im not sure what a stacker is. But thank you for the advice. im going to try and upload some pics on here to show how nice it looks. The previous owner was meticulous with maintenance record. Now i just have to look through them all. I grew up a BMW guy, so this is a whole new world to me. i work for a custom wheel shop Ewheelworks.us, so im gonna try to put something interesting on it, if i can save some money. Looks like im gonna have to make some wheels fit. Thank you all for your help. Anything is much appreciated. i know zero about Jags
hope this worked

Welcome to the forum braddexter21,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
Looks good. Try a re-gas first on the AC. Refrigerant does leak out over time even with good seals.
