Another Kiwi signing on - from Nelson, New Zealand. I've been collecting / restoring beautiful Rover's as a hobby for many years - P6B's and SD1 Vanden Plas / Vitesse are my favourite muscle / sports saloons - there are several pristine British Leyland cars in my collection - but am now heading back to Jags after many years away. The x300 Daimler is a fabulous car and unbeatable value for money nowadays, (the best Jag Ford ever made) but almost too perfect, if you know what I mean. So now I've bought a 30 year old Series 3 xj6 and just adore driving that old lady - bringing them back to 'like new' is a favourite pastime these days. There's a whole generation of young'uns now who have never even seen one before, and are so impressed with her sleek lines and lovely curves. Of course they have been bought up on the squashed guinea pig look of the modern Japanese car, and never actually met a car that has it's own character before. It's nice to see them 'discovering' it, as I did when a teenager, and subject to the imprinting that many a youth has been bitten by. I never did recover from my first sight of the E Type Jag back in '67.
Anyway, looking forward to more leaning from the techperts - starting with Andy's 5 degree advance bracket - interesting stuff.

Default Welcome to Jaguar Forums

Welcome dejer from Nelson, NZ ... and greetings from a fellow enthusiast in Australia.

The XJ6 is a great drive ... full of classic styling, elegance, yet a heart that was not afraid to roar! I encourage you to jump over to the XJ6/XJ12 model specific section where there is plenty to read and absorb ... also, to visit the regional section shared by other members in your area ... and finally, to add your car details to your signature as a permanent flag to enable other members to offer accurate advice ... from Main Menu, click <User CP> then <Edit Signature>.

All that remains is to dive into the forum ... and enjoy!

Best wishes,
Ken

"Too Perfect" as in no personality? I can understand that. My Xj6 is older than I am and it has LOTS of Personality.

That would have been me, except I saw, probably it was an Xj6 S-III when I was young and thought it was the most beautiful car ever.

I was brought up on Mercan Monster Detroit Iron from GM.

It's good to have you with us, and Welcome from ElinorB.
