Cool New MBR 2015 XF

Hello, my name is Hek and I am from San Diego, CA. I purchased a 2015 XF. I am getting a Warning sign on my screen that says Low Battery. Please switch engine on or system will shut down in 3 minutes. Does this just mean my battery is low and I probably need to swap it out? Thank you....

Welcome to the Forums.

Yes, the battery is possibly way past its use by date of approx 4 - 5 years.

Welcome to the forums Hek,

If the battery is the original then it is likely to need replacing. However, the vehicle is fitted with BMS (Battery Monitoring System) and that warning message is a standard function. If excessive battery discharge is occurring when the engine isn't running, the system will shut down non-essential electrical systems to protect battery power. For example, sitting with the engine off and listening to audio. After ten minutes or so the warning appears and the timed auxilliary shutdown sequence commences to to prevent the battery draining to the point where the engine cannot be started. Simply starting the engine stops the shutdown.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.
