Hello all just bought my first Jag, it a 2003 X-Type with 131,000 on the clock. So far the car is very good, Had a problem with the sunroof bounce back and with the help of this forum got that fixed, so thanks for that, now the only problem is the left rear door will not unlock, you can unlock it manually but not with the key fob or the drivers side switch. If I have read correctly you CAN program the key fob but you can't program the key it self, please correct me if I'm wrong on that. Anway thanks for all the good information and look forward to learning more about this car.

First of all, Congratulations on your 'new' Jaguar!
Second, if it's only one door that doesn't work correctly, more likely there's something wrong with that specific locking mechanism.
Take the door card off and clean and lubricate *Everything,* all linkages, pivots and slides, relating to opening or locking that door. All that may be old and stiff.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum c130amt,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
A problem with only one door lock will be that lock/harness itself and not a fob/key related issue.
Follow this link X-Type - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the S-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the USA Southwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...z-tx-nm-ok-37/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.

Thanks for all the welcomes. I kind of figured I didn't have a problem with the key fob, I think it is in the door itself. If you look at the lock lever inside the car it moves but not far enough to unlock the door and makes a clicking noise. Just haven't had time to get in there and check it out. Anything I should know about removing the door panel?

Could just be a loose connection but more likely a faulty microswitch in the door latch assembly.
You should ask about removing the door trim panel in the X-Type tech forum. It's all too easy to break plastic trim clips if you don't know exactly where the retaining screws and clips are.
