New to the forum and need help desperately. Hello everyone my name is Stephen and I currently own a 2005 Jag S-type 4.2 non R model. Previously had an 05 X-Type, but needed more power. 2 weeks ago I drove the car to my in-laws to lend a hand, but time to leave the car gears will not engage. I change the transmission oil and installed new pan w/filter and connector sleeve, but same issue. I was going to put in new solenoids but decided to towed it to the ******* for diagnostic. They called me today to say that it would cost about $14,000.00 for a new transmission installed. I can get a used one, but I am not sure what is up with the VIN. Does it really matter what my VIN is in order to get one that would work with my car? My VIN ends in N21219 and has about 150000 miles on it. Please help. Before all this started, the car was hard shifting and will get stuck in 3rd or 4th. Please, please help.
