Hi...

My son purchased a 85 Jaguar XJ6 from my sister. It's in pretty rough shape and we plan on working on it to get it back on the road. Needs lots of work and plan on doing most of it ourselves. Was parked roughly 15+ years ago in her garage and keys were lost.

Hello, Mark,
15 years is a long time for a car to sit unused, even if it is in a garage.
However, if it's possible at all, members in our Xj6 section will talk you through whatever needs done.

Thanks everyone.

Neice took keys to school, haven't seen em since. She claims they're in the house, but if anyone knows my sister, that's like looking in a black hole. We're always sure to not leave things behind, as they usually are lost for good.

I'm able to source a replacement ignition close by, but getting the existing one out and/or breaking it with a screwdriver has become a challenge. It ran when parked.

I've been reading up on it here, the site is a great resource.

Default Ignition

Just got it out. Damn I was reading too much into it. Very simple removal. I'll source up the replacement tomorrow.

Now we should be able to maneuver the car around and possibly out of the garage for my other cars. Cover will go on it of course. Clean the tanks since I can get it outside now. Would like to hear it run before fixing other stuff that is needed.

I need to start a build thread somwhere's.

Welcome to the forum Mark,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Follow Norri's link in post #7 to the XJ6 Series I, II & III forum for help, advice and information.
That's the place to start your build thread. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.
