Hello, I'm new to this forum having purchased a 2000 S Type, it was running fine until recently, the alarm went off for no reason than when I tried starting it I noticed the P on the shift console was lit up along with the airbag symbol on the dash, I tried to start it and got no response. I removed the key from the ignition and the lights were still on the console as well as the radio, I disconnected the battery and reconnected it but nothing changed. I disconnected the battery for a few days and it started but when I tried shutting it off it kept running even with the key out of the ignition, I pulled the main fuse which than shut it down, now it is back to the lights on the console lit and not starting again, any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Welcome.
We have had a few of that down here.
It si teh electrical section of the ignition switch.
Not the easiest to get at, or out.
My Silver car started the hissy moment occasionally, so I eventually got the switch out, and sprayed contact cleaner in the hole, and the odd looking switch section, via the small tube supplied with the p/pack can. All sweet so far.
It is a Ford "type" switch that I can establish, as it looks very similar to the Ford Territory switches that we constantly clean and sort at work.
A quixk ask in the S Type section will get you more answers than what I have given.
