I must be crazy... just put some money down on a 1992 XJS conv. V12
bought the service manual on ebay and bonnette struts on Amazon.com with a gift card... the engine cover would not stay open and there was a little noise from the power steering pump... that is how I knew the engine cover could not hold itself open... I took it for a blast down the interstate and put 3 gallons of gas in it and brought it back to the lot. the engine is so quite..

Default Radio did not light up

Did research on the internet before getting my manual and found that fuse 7 on the drivers side could be blown.

I noticed that the engine cooling fans cycled on and off after removing the key... that is normal right? I also noticed that the oil pressure was low at idle.... I built my Austin-Healy sprite 1275 (9k rpm ) motor and it had good oil pressure... after a lot of reading on the internet I guess the low reading is ok and that I have not had the bogus oil pressure sending unit (sensor) up grade..... my own opinion on the bogus part...

You might be crazy but you're in good company. We're all a little crazy in here, for owning Jaguars mostly, but there might be some other reason.
eBay and Amazon are two of our best sources for hard to find pieces parts.

Welcome from ElinorB.

Thanks, I have found a lot of things on there... I think I will be replacing the drivers side Headlight as it look a little dark... I rebuilt my Sprite from the frame up when I found a broke valve spring on number one exhaust... what a nut... ;-) so I would like to give the Jag a good home...

Default Thanks guys...

do you think I need to have them (the car lot) do a oil and filter change before I take delivery? I need to go make sure the top works too...
the air did not blow too cool they said they would recharge the AC
I might buy and have them put in a new power steering pump too...
I would do it... but I have an audition coming up and I just got the kids back in school and a promotion at work that gives me more money to buy the Jag Life is good and getting better...

Jonathan,

I've moved your 'burping' question to XJS forum for advice from members with the same model. Here's a direct link to it:

So here is a question from a new member... what do any think a 97k mile 1992 XJS conv. should cost me? I am going to make another installment on the down payment today and checking over the conv. top system... the deal is while I am making payments, they fix it if I buy the parts... the only things I have found wrong is no power to radio and the power steering pump made a little noise at first... I will buy a new power steering pump with a warranty to have peace of mind...

been a long time since I had a conv.
