I am new and the proud owner of a red/oatmeal 1999 XK8 convertable whose passenger side door lock will not respond to the fob or key. It is even dead to the gear shift on "go". From what I have picked up from this forum, it probably is a dead activator or micro switch in that door lock. Presently I s t r e t c h across the console and manually lock the passenger door and then lock the car with the fob. Inconvenient but until I can find a cheaper solution to a $700++ replacement it will have to do. I do believe I have the right diagnosis but will bow to the superior knowledge of members of this forum. Please, please advise.. Thanks
Sebastian
PS Can somebody say which XK8 have locking modules that will interchange with my 1999? S.

Welcome to the forum. It is always great to see another member from Las Vegas. I will do a tad bit of research in my books and get back to you with some help for your problem. When you get a chance repost the problem in the X100 section. Everybody there has an XK8 or XK8 experience. Follow the link below:

Welcome to the forum Sebastian,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I agree the most likely cause is a failed microswitch in the Door Latch. This is quite a regular issue and certainly the one to eliminate first. There is rarely a need to replace the assembly as replacement microswitches are available for a few $$'s. Door Modules are a rare but not unknown failure.

Follow this link
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
