Hi to the group
About 6 months ago I bought a 1986 xj6 sedan,
The car came from the Orange region in New South Wales and apart from a little bit of rust in the bottom of the two left hand doors is in quite good condition.
I got a unregistered vehicle permit and drove it back to Sydney with now issues, It is only running on the left hand tank at present, looking into the right hand tank with a torch it looks very sad. When time permits I will remove it and sort it out.
The jag has just over 500km on it and has a stack of money spent on it over the years, it was last registered in 2012
The air con has a issue with not holding gas but but other than these two issues the car runs fine, I have done a full service/fluid change on it.
I now have it on NSW club rego so I can drive my pride and joy.

Welcome to the forum Nigel,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
1986 was a model change year from the XJ6 Series III to the XJ40 which was confusingly also badged as XJ6.
XJ6 Series III
XJ40
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...s-i-ii-iii-16/ to the XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III forum or this one https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj40-xj81-25/ to the XJ40 forum as appropriate for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top of each is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Hi there
It is a series 3 I have wanted one ( xj6 ) for the last 40 years but family and life sometimes get in the way.
Not wanting to upset anyone but I am biased to the shape of the series 1 to 3 shape, I knew a couple of people with series 1 in the mid 70s and fell in love with them.
I was having trouble finding a good rust free one in my budget ( my days of body repairs are over due to health issues ) and spotted this one that has spent the vast majority of its life in the country so I bought it.
Thanks
Nigel
