Hi everyone.

About a year ago I had the opportunity to drive a friend's 2015 F-Type R. Wow, what a sweet ride. Since then I have been doing a lot of thinking about getting my hands on an F-Type and am starting to get more serious. I'm leaning towards an F-Type R coupe in a light colour (leaning towards a silver or Yulong white). I am of the opinion that light colours do show the lines of the car very well. Trying to figure out if I should buy used - significant $ savings, but with the major downside of having limited availability of cars locally (there are plenty 3,000 km away, but I'd rather get something less than 1,000 km away), and having to compromise on colour and accessories. Or, I could buy new and get exactly what I want. Decisions, decisions.

I currently drive an '08 Subaru Impreza STi, which I've modded to Cobb Stage 3. One of my goals in a second car is that it be quicker and more fun than my STi. This leads me to the R line of the F-Type (I'm not sure that the 380 hp version will be quick enough for me). I'm sure the R will. I will miss the manual transmission, but I hope that I can get over it.

I'm looking forward to reading what all you Jag and F-Type owners have to say about your cars. The good and the bad.

Cheers

Anyway

Depends of course on your definition of "fun", the kind of fun you are looking for, and the kind of roads you have locally around,
but keep in mind a STI is much lighter, more agile then a F-Type.

On the right kind of roads, I can have as much fun - if not more - in my daily, which has only a third of the power of my F, because of those very same reasons.
Despite its little HP hardly worth mentioning, my DD (a DS3) is way shorter, less wide, and weighs 30% less than my F...
Roundabouts on three wheels only, no F, whether base or R can beat that

Thanks KVO.

You are correct, of course. My STi is a blast to drive. I've never owned a car with the power and delivery responsiveness of the F-Type R and that, in itself, will constitute a different sort of fun.

Chris
