My first car was British. That was way back in 1970. The dealer in Riverside, California, USA sold Jaguars, Austin Healys, and Austin Americas. I really wanted a new leftover AH 3000 that was $2700. However as an emancipated minor the cost of insurance for a sports car was through the roof. Bought a new Austin America for $1700.
