Hello,
I've been a Jaguar owner a few times.
34 years ago, I got an XJ6L when my first chld came along for the safety. That daughter is about to have my first grandchild.
20 years ago, I bought an 69 EType roadster that had been in a barn for 22 years. Completely rotted top and seats, but no rust anywhere and it started right up.
A friend and I restored it over the next 10 years. It was gorgeous!
I live in North Carolina and found that 10 nonths a year, it was either too hot or too cold to drive comfortably, so sold it
I used the proceeds as a down payment to buy the house across the street -
Even though the value of E-types has skyrocketed, the real esate market has done even better and I'm very happy about that investment
7 years ago, I bought a 2002 XK8 maroon coupe with 24,000 miles. Gorgeous car and I loved it almost to death
put on 140,000 miles. Headliner fell down, driver seat wore out, paint delaminated
When the steering went out and the shop said it would cost $1,400 to repair, I parked it.
:Last year - bought a grey XK coupe with 30,000 miles
I bought a few other cars over the years, but I'm a Jag man for life.
The reason I joined the Jag forum is I love the looks of the 2002 XK8. I couldn't bring myself to junk it, so it's been parked next to my house for 6 months. Body and engine are great.
It's worth nothing, so I've got nothing to lose.
I am going to try to turn the XK8 into a Jagmino. Jaguar + El Camino
Remove the trunk lid, rear glass and back seats. Relocate the gas tank. Put in a new firewall, floor and tailgate
I have no idea how to get this done, but it will keep me out of the house.
I plan to ask for advice in the XK8 forum soon
Wish me luck.
