Thanks to this forum, I purchased a 2007 XK Coupe about a month ago. I've been a Porsche 911-Audi quattro-BMW M3 guy my entire life and have been lucky to own a lot of different performance cars. Sold all of them several years ago and retired early but decided to look again for a 'fun car', but something under $20K. Of course the Porsches have been in the stratosphere for years now and I didn't really want another one anyway. Most of the German stuff I was interested in are the things nightmares are made of when it comes to ease of repair and repair costs. Had never even considered a Jaguar. Probably because I still harbored the old notion that anything English would be a fix or repair daily type thing. But I started seeing XKs in my searches for very little $$ and got on this forum to do some research. I was shocked that the general reliability of the drivetrain was excellent and that most of the problems that are posted are things I can do myself. It's confidence-inspiring to know I can search this forum and nearly any question/problem has already been answered and solved!
So here I am. Absolutely love the car and still can't believe I bought such a beautiful design for so little money. Have done a lot of preventative maintenance already and did the brakes last week. Also recently posted my repair to the broken glove box.

A funny Jaguar story from when I was a kid around 1970 or so. I took care of my wealthy Aunt and Uncles lawn. My much older cousin had a series of cool cars and one day I opened the garage to find an XKE convertible! Wow. This was, by far, the coolest most exotic car I had ever seen. I sat in it and was amazed by all the gauges and toggle switches. Even though I was only 13-14, I knew a bit about cars but when I lifted the bonnet I was stumped. Hmmm, 2 valve covers but only 6 spark plug wires running right down the center. It should be a 6 but with 2 valve covers, maybe it's a 12!??? I knew nothing of DOHC. Turns out the car didn't run and he had won it in a card game.

Thanks guys! What I've grown to love about the XK is all the classic elements of past Jaguars that were incorporated into the design. Upon first glance, there's no doubt it is a Jaguar. I read an interview with Ian Callum and he very purposely incorporated these. It seems like that's been lost on newer models but to each his own, right?
