Hello all! My name is Marianne Dawson and I have a 1952 Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe (FHC) which I acquired a little over a year ago. This car sat driven then parked for a number of years which I do not know but at least 15 years in a heated garage. I had the car brought to my garage on a flat bed tow truck. None of the wheels turned until the wench began to drag the car onto the the bed. 3 wheels broke free and turned. A year and a half later all the wheels turn and the engine now runs! This is my story. Let me introduce you to the car itself: Chassis 679526 Engine number W4509-8 Body number J1529 Gearbox number KL9837 this is a numbers matching car. The original color is British Racing Green. Some previous owner has resprayed the car black I side and out. The leather seats are original and in good condition but have been dyed black. The headliner is tan or Fawn as was the interior at one point. The headliner is in tact but is beginning to pull loose in a couple of places. The fuel tank was removed , cleaned and sealed and all new fuel delivery line is new. The fuel pump is a remanufactured original pump. A valve adjustment was done, the carburetors rebuilt and has a new coil. The radiator was re-cored by Maine radiator. A rebuilt water pump replaced the original. All the coolant hoses were replaced with proper ones for the engine. The thermostat housing is new but contains no thermostat. The flexible brake lines have been replaced with new ones. All the old brake fluid is flushed out and Dot 3 replaced it. This is basically the meat of work done. There may be other items not mentioned only because I forgot them.

Welcome to the forums Marianne,
They don't arrive as complete and solid as that very often and it looks to have an interesting garage companion too. A matching numbers example really deserves to be the original colour too.

Graham,
Thank you for the welcome! I am very fortunate to get a Jag so complete. This one still needs a lot of TLC. I have brought it from death to running again but this is all I can do. The garage mate is my other project car. A work still in progress is my 1963 RollsRoyce Silver Cloud III which was also dead and road worthy once again. The refurbishing of the Silver Cloud has taken me 6 years. It is now to a point where any work done is pretty much out of my hands and into those of special services. I will continue to do the general maintenance. I look forward to being part of the forum.

From photo #3, I thought RR or Bentley.
Our climate in England coupled with extensive use of road salt has killed off most of the XK's and Clouds. Those that have survived almost always require extensive welding and panel work which makes any restoration hugely expensive just to get to the stage you are starting at with yours.

Hello, Marianne,
Congratulations on SO many things here!
Your acquisition of such a Classic example of Jaguar roadster, all your successful restoration efforts resurrecting the car from DOA to a living breathing machine again, and all your successful work on that Roller.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
