Hello everyone, my wife and I just bought a used 1998 XJ8 with low mileage on it. We thought it would be nice to hear opinions from others who either own or have owned this model to weigh in. So far, for the last two thousand miles, we have enjoyed cruising the Rocky Mountains where we live. Hope to hear from you all soon. Love the Valladares AKA Chicky Baby

Default check engine light on

In my 1998 xjl8 there is a warning light that says check engine, and the computer says performance is restricted. But the car runs fine, so what does this mean. All answers would be appreciated Thanks!

You can take it to a Advance Auto or Auto Zone, I think they will read the engine code for you to find out what it was. Could be something as simple as not making sure the gas cap was fully closed (3 clicks) Good Luck!
